Today is a sad day. My friend, Alan Smart or just SMARTY has been found dead half way across the world in a hotel in Thailand. Alan was the funniest person i ever met. I have never laughed as much with anyone else. We spent many many countless hours playing snooker together over the years. I feel numb. I cant believe he's gone.
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves
,Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

I am so sorry to hear this. My sympathies and condolences. I lost my best friend 18 years ago and miss him very much to this day. Peace brother.
Wow, sorry to read this. Hope you are doing a little better.
Do you mind me asking, what happened exactly? And what was he doing there in Thailand?
Hey Gavin,
Sorry to hear about your friend. I was just looking at an RA Wilson vid and I thought I'd share it with you - but you are gone from YouTube!! Did you get fed up with it all? I can dig that! Take care!

hi lads.
it's been a shit couple of weeks. we buried Alan last tuesday.
it looks like he died of a heart attack that may have been caused by a blood clot from deep vein thrombosis. we are waiting on toxicology report but no one really cares. Whats done is done.
he was on holiday with a fellow bricklayer. He had been there before and was well looked after.
The local monks sent his soul back home and did a service over there for him.
Im just getting back to normal.
thanks for the concern. I will write a new post soon.
regards gav
Hi - tried to leave a message a couple of times before but am not too technically adept. Many more people are thinking of you and your friend and wishing his soul well then you know, because of your blog. Peace to you and to him too. Kirkita
